Anyone purchasing Vauxhall Astra reconditioned or used engines in the UK, knows that it is hard to locate a good quality replacement unit, whether it is petrol or a diesel engine. With the quality of most used engines sourced locally in the UK, most of the times you are left with something little better than the unit you are replacing.
Engine Trust can provide you with price comparison for any Vauxhall Astra petrol and diesel engines for sale online. The cost of brand new engines normally makes replacement unrealistic and costly. We strictly monitor sellers on our network only sell quality rebuilt and remanufactured engines and they offer full 6 month mechanical unlimited mileage warranty while the used units generally come with a 3 month unlimited mileage warranty so you can have peace of mind and reassurance with your purchase. Not only Astra, our suppliers offer all types of Vauxhall used engines.
If you want to avoid any engine problems with your Astra, there are some basic things that you can do. Keep an eye on the engine light and if the management light is on, take your car to a well reputed dealer or a garage to get it checked, there might be something wrong with the engine but it has also been observed that it sometimes lights up because of a problem in sensors. Problems have been reported with Vauxhall Astra engine warning light turning on for no reason. This can be sorted out by cleaning all the connections from the batteries. Resetting the engine management light is quite simple; it can be done by disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes and then re-connecting.
To keep it running smooth and give it a longer life, the Vauxhall Astra engine oil should be changed on-time. Always use a dealer or a trusted supplier for the engine oil. Another issue reported with the petrol Vauxhall Astra engine is that it sometimes freezes, just check the engine coolant regularly. Refer to the manufacturer's website or contact them to find out the meaning of the engine fault codes. It is always wise to save money in the long run; therefore, the Vauxhall Astra engine replacement works out to be the best thing, instead of spending money to get it fixed after every week or two.
Vauxhall is the British subsidiary of car manufacturer Adam Opel AG. Astra is their small family saloon. It was launched in 1979 and was powered by the Opel Astra G engine. In the start, it was a right handed version of the Opel Kadett D. Over the years, the Astra used several engines. Apart from the saloon, there is also a van like model. Vauxhall uses the same saloon engine in the van version as well.
The Astra was the first car to get the front wheel drive by Vauxhall. The Vauxhall Astra 1.3L and 1.6L engines were included in the range and the 1.8L engine was added later in 1983. The Astra became quite popular among buyers and a 1.2L engine was added later on to the range.
The second generation of the Astra was also known as Mark 2 Astra. Same engines were continued with an addition of a 1.8 litre unit delivering 150bhp.
This was the third generation of Astra. It underwent major redesign and many units were added to the engine range. Vauxhall Astra 1.8L 16v engine made its debut and could generate 124bhp. The Ecotec technology was also introduced as it was more fuel efficient. The petrol engines in third generation are 1.4L and 1.6L. The diesel engines included 1.7L diesel, 1.7L turbo diesel and 1.7L Isuzu engine.
In the fourth generation, the Vauxhall Astra Ecotec range included both 8V and 16V engines. Vauxhall Astra 1.6L 8v engine gave 101 bhp, while the 1.8L and 2.2L engines produced 120bhp and 147bhp respectively. The diesel variants included 1.7L CDTi engine with 100bhp and a 2.0L DTi. A smaller 1.7L DTi engine with 75bhp was later added to the range.
The engines from the fifth generation carried over but the body was tweaked and new trim levels introduced. All of them were powered by the same units from the last generation. The VXR in sports-hatch became the most popular. Vauxhall Astra VXR engine is a 2.0L turbocharged unit with 236bhp.
This is the seventh generation of the Astra. The VVT technology was implemented to improve efficiency and fuel consumption. The Astra petrol engines included a 1.3L 16v VVT with 85bhp and 113bhp. It returns 130Nm of torque and the turbo version gives the output of 138bhp and 200Nm of torque. There is also a Vauxhall Astra 1.6L turbo 16v engine with 113bhp or 177bhp. The Vauxhall Astra 1.3L CDTi engine has been discontinued.
