We recommend that you should take proper care of your car i.e. change engine oil regularly to give your car engine a longer life.
Also make sure to change the air filter and oil filter so that engine management light doesn’t come on. If and when your engine warning light comes on, buy the engine oil from your nearest shop and change the oil to reduce the risk of facing any problems in future.
Only Skoda Octavia motor oil should be used when changing oil as it will prolong the life of your engine. If need arises to change it than make sure you have an engine diagram handy and then place it on the engine mount properly.
When buying a used or second hand Skoda Octavia, check engine oil and speed sensor for the engine as this will manifest if the car is worth buying. When any engine warning light comes on the first thing to check is if the engine oil is at the right level. Skoda Octavia engine servicing is not costly and spare parts can be found easily.
Although the Octavia’s engines are very reliable but some problems have been reported. The Engine on a number of occasions would not fire up. A noise from the rear sounded like a bearing. Another black mark has been the DSG gearbox which when first used was inconsistent to the point of being a safety issue. This meant 2-3 seconds delay which made pulling away at a junction risky. The clutch is jerky at lower speeds and the engine fault was that the car entered limp mode.
