The first generation of SEAT Leon was introduced in 1999 after the rolling out of SEAT Toledo models. SEAT Leon 1.9 SDI and TDI Engine Family 2005-2009

The second generation of the SEAT Leon started in 2005 with the range of engines from 1.9L diesel to 2.0L diesel, all of these engines were using the traditional direct fuel injection system. The top performance SEAT Leon engine in this range was 2.0L TDi with 140HP power toll. The CO2 emissions of this SEAT Leon were of 154gm/km.

SEAT Leon 1.9 TDI DSG and ECO Engine Family 2009-2012

The Spanish car makers presented a face lifted car in 2009 with XDS Traction System as standard and empowered the Leon with 1.9L DSG diesel engine. It was an 1896cc sized engine capable of generating 103bhp at 2000rpm with 184 lb-ft of torque. It was a common rail fuel injection system with the fuel economy of 41.6mpg with CO2 emissions of 154gm/km. However, the four cylinder 1896cc ECO diesel engine was designed to generate 105bhp, but the CO2 emission rates was 119gm/km.
