Ford Fiesta is a good, practical and comfortable small hatchback. Though it has become aged now but still in lead of its class with great driving experience and economical engines along with some advanced features such as Clever My Key technology and Torque vectoring Braking systems. It offers good handling and smooth in high speed. The interior of this small hatchback is like any of big hatchback car, means all necessary equipments and arrangements are there but due to lack of space, size of all controls and equipments has been shortened by the manufacturer. Interior is just reasonable with no exceptional thing in it. The standard of material is also at margin. All features are well knitted and in a good geometrical shape and offers a good and complete sense but material used is not like that we find in its rivals like Skoda Fabia and Mazda 2. Seating arrangement is good though not practical as it looks like. The dashboard is fitted with good and practical options though small in their size. Five-inch screen is optional for its Titanium trim level and 4.2 inches screen is fitted as standard. Plastic used in its interior is of cheap standard. Climate control, cruise control, DAB radio system, heated seats, keyless entry, reversing camera and leather steering wheel is fitted in this small hatchback. The best thing in its interior is all controls are in good access and easy to use with good clarity of labels.

Engine range of Ford Fiesta

Ford Fiesta has a long chain of engines in which there are some good EcoBoost petrol and fuel efficient diesel engines.  Ford Fiesta has plenty of trim levels with different power trains, that offer a good driving experience and quite efficient in fuel consumption at the same time. EcoBoost 1.0-Litre engine is graded as the best among the huge engines range.

Diesel engine range for Ford Fiesta

Diesel engines for Ford Fiesta consist of 1.4-Litre, 1.5-Litre and 1.6-Litre. There are different versions available in all these units. Now we discuss them separately and in detail.

1.4-Litre diesel engine

After 1.4-Litre diesel engine, Ford has used 1.5-Litre diesel engine in its Fiesta that is also available in two different outputs. There is 73bhp version with 140lb/ft torque. It takes 13.1 seconds to get from 0-62m/h with top speed of 104m/h. The fuel consumption is impressive with 78m/g of fuel average and Co2 emissions are just 94g/km. The second version of this 1.5-Litre diesel engine is of 93bhp and 159lb/ft torque. Its top speed is 111m/h with 11.5 seconds 0-62m/h sprint time. The fuel average is unbelievable with 88m/g and Co2 emissions are 82g/km. These two versions are available in three and five-door models. It is the fastest and the most efficient diesel version in the whole diesel engines range of Ford Fiesta.

1.6-Litre diesel engine

There is a 1.6-Litre TDCi diesel engine that is also capable of 93bhp as we have in 1.5-Litre but with less torque force. It is of 147lb/ft torque. It is the second efficient engine with 12.5 seconds time frame for 0-62m/h sprint along with 111m/h top speed. Fuel consumption is remarkable with 85m/g with 85g/km of Co2 emissions. This engine is available in five-door models only.

Petrol engines range is more impressive than the diesel ones

Petrol engines range starts with 1.0-Litre EcoBoost unit which is available in different versions. There is a 78bhp and 77lb/ft torque version that is considered as an entry level engine. It takes 14.4 seconds to reach from 0-62m/h with top speed of 103m/h. Fuel average of this three-cylinder and twelve-valve engine is 65m/g with 99g/km of Co2 emissions. The second version in this 1.0-Litre engine is of 98bhp and 125lb/ft torque. Its power is impressive. It takes 10.8 seconds to cover 0-62m/h with top speed of 112m/h. Fuel average is 65m/g with 99g/km of Co2 emissions. This 1.0-Litre petrol unit is the most favorite choice of the Fiesta lovers due to its performance. There is a 123bhp and 147lb/ft torque version in this 1.0-Litre petrol unit, performance is impressive one with 9.1 seconds 0-62m/h sprint time and 122m/h top speed. Fuel average is also good with 65m/g with 99g/km of Co2 emissions. The most efficient and performing version of this 1.0-Litre engine is 138bhp and 155lb/ft torque. It takes 8.7 seconds to get from 0-62m/h with top speed of 125m/h. Fuel average of this version is also good with 62m/g and Co2 emissions are 104g/km. It is available in three-door models only.

1.25-Litre petrol engine

After 1.0-Litre performing unit there is a 1.25-Litre petrol unit that is capable of 80bhp and 84lb/ft torque. It takes 12.9 seconds to reach from 0-62m/h with top speed of 104m/h. It is a four-cylinder and sixteen-valve engine with 54m/g of fuel average and 122g/km of Co2 emissions. The second version is less impressive in performance that is capable of just 59bhp and 80lb/ft torque. It takes 16.4 seconds to get from 0-62m/h with top speed of 94m/h. Its fuel average is 54m/g with 122g/km of Co2 emissions. This tiny version is available in three-door models only.

1.4-Litre petrol engine

There is a big variety available in engines of Ford Fiesta. The 1.4-Litre petrol engine with 94bhp and 92lb/ft torque is available in the market. It is available in three and five-door models. Fuel average is 47m/g with 138g/km of Co2 emissions. This version is available in just five-door models and fitted with six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive system. At the top of engines range there is a 1.6-Litre petrol engine with 197bhp and 214lb/ft torque. It is the fastest engine with 142m/h top speed. It takes 6.5 seconds to get from 0-62m/h. Fuel average of this version is 46m/g with 140g/km of Co2 emissions. This version is available in just three-door models and fitted with six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive system.

Ford Fiesta offers a nice driving experience in town riding and performs well on motorways

Ford Fiesta is specially designed for town driving with small dimensions, light steering control and excellent road and external visibility that helps a lot in tight town driving with low space margins and good maneuvering ability along with good and safe parking in tight places. Ford Fiesta offers a good space and practicality

It is a nice car with reasonable practical approach. Though there are competent rivals with good comfortable interior and latest technologies along with handsome seating arrangements, but the graph of its popularity stands still on high position. At front, Fiesta offers a good leg and head room with comfort but at rear the situation is little bit cramped for adult passengers. Its three-door models are with lack of practicality but its five-door models offer good practicality with good sitting arrangement, any how the situation is tight whether you choose three or five-door models if we compare it with new Skoda Fabia.  As far as boot space is concerned it is far better than its rivals. Though it is an old fashioned vehicle with tight space for passengers, but with good and practical boot space, it is at front in its class. It has 290 Litres boot with wide and good shaped opening lid. In small hatchback class, it is better than Vauxhall Corsa that offers 285 Litres, VW Polo that offers 280 Litres and Mazda 2 with 250 Litres of boot space. Rear seats are with folding ability and you can get 974 Litres storage capacity by dropping them down.

Safety and reliability of this small car is up to international standards

Ford is a name of trust due to its safety and reliability standards, well maintained in its vehicles. Ford Fiesta has secured five stars in Euro NCAP Crash Test. All models have dual front, side and driver’s knee airbags, excellent seat belts with pre-tensions. Key less entry is optional but top trim levels are fitted with this feature as standard. Remote central locking and there is a unique MY KEY feature that is well praised by all international safety institutes, which can allow parents to fix speed limit and stereo volume for their children , if they want to drive the car alone. Excellent stability control system with traction control system is fitted in this small car. Ford Fiesta is fitted with torque vectoring technology that allows you to carry more speed at bends. Ford Fiesta is available with Active City Stop system. It works effectively if the situation goes worse. Safety standards are well praised and advanced in functions but the reliability of Ford Fiesta is not satisfactory. Cheep built quality doesn’t satisfy the customers. It is in 105th position out of 150th. The Driver Power Customer Satisfaction survey has revealed its report in which most of the customers and users are satisfied with its safety measures but not convinced by its durability and reliability, anyhow Ford Fiesta is the leading brand In UK.
